In a flat where Richard lived several years ago, there were beautiful raw pieces of rimu, unloved and unseen, serving as shelves in the hot water cupboard. What a waste. Those shelves are now mdf, and this piece of rimu waited in Richard's stockpile for the right purpose.
Eventually he was fortunate enough to capture an image of this fantail mid-flight as it flitted between young rimu trees. Appropriately, it has now been painted and wedded to the timber.
